He started it to help support struggling bakers through the COVID pandemic, and they're now officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization so your donations are tax-deductible.

Once the pandemic ends, the fund will continue to support bread bakers. "We love the bread baking community and being a part of it and want to give back." 🥰

Introducing the Sourdough Beginner's Kit, the best

Baking bread in my grandmother's bread pan 💕💕

My mom brought me this treasure last time she was visiting from Canada. I have such fond memories of my grandmother cooking and baking, so to own one of her bread pans is truly an honor.

I finally baked in it just this week, utilizing my Authentic Sourdough Sandwich Bread recipe, and it did NOT disappoint!

At the risk of waxing nostalgic, I must admit I felt so close to my grandma in that moment. She passed away in 2001 (nearly 20 years ago now), but her memory and her breads live on. 🥰

Here's to all the grandmas and mamas out there creating such positive food memories for their grandchildren and children. It's no small thing, and will have a large impact long after we're gone.

I posted a new recipe this week called Authentic Sourdough Sandwich Bread, and a bunch of Sourdough Mamas have given it a try! 🥰

Susan shared these photos and said: "My first sourdough sandwich loaf [...] following Heather’s great instructions. Can’t wait to try it!!! Thanks for the video tutorial, it answered all my questions. Since I only had one loaf pan, I made the other half of the dough into a boule." Smart!

My new recipe accommodates for 13" Pullman pans as well as regular 9" loaf pans, making it easy to customize to fit YOUR kitchen. That's what Leavenly is all about! Great job, Susan 🧡

Do YOU score your sandwich loaves? Why or why not? 🧐

I don't typically score my sandwich loaves, for no reason other than I like the rounded shape on the top of the sliced bread that comes naturally, without scoring.

This particular loaf decided to score itself! 👌

All that being said, I've scored sandwich bread before, usually a straight slice right down the middle. It creates two small ears and gives a unique shape to each slice.

I personally haven't noticed any difference between scoring and not scoring when it comes to oven spring, but I'm curious if you have! 🥰

My little helper 🦋🦋

*Sappy mom post alert!*

Our three-year-old daughter loves to help me in the kitchen. Whenever I pull out some pans or start measuring flours, she appears out of nowhere and starts saying "Can I watch Mommy?" "Can I help Mommy?"

100% of the time it would be easier to say, "No, honey, this is a grown-up job", but I like to try to remember that she's not going to be this small for long, and soon she won't want to help at all.

So I take full advantage, even if it's messier and takes longer, because I know I'm creating positive food memories for her, and wonderful moments for us. 💕

Friends with children, invite them into your kitchen. You won't regret it, and they won't forget it.
